Capitals Re-sign Sloan, Collins

The Washington Capitals announced today that they've re-signed defensemen Tyler Sloan to a one-year contract and Sean Collins to a two-year contract. Both players spent time with the Capitals and the Hershey Bears.

Sloan, 28, made his NHL debut during the 2008-09 season, and also score his first NHL goal on October 25 against the Dallas Stars. He appeared in 26 games for the Capitals, registering one goal and four assists for five points.

Sloan also spent time with the Bears, registering two goals and 10 assists fot 12 points in 46 games. He was also a key member of Hershey's defensive corps that helped lead the Bears to their record 10th Calder Cup this season.

Collins, 25, appeared in 15 games with the Capitals this past season, registering one goal and one assists. He also appeared in 39 games for the Hershey Bears, registering one goal and seven assists for eight points. Collins appeared in six playoff games for the Bears, registering two assists.
