The Hamilton Bulldogs bounced back from a two-game losing streak to beat the Hershey Bears 6-0 on Wednesday night. This excellent game by the Bulldogs showed that the young guys know how to play good hockey in the defensive zone as they, along with goalie Marc Denis, managed to stop the Bears who have 44 goals in eight games.
Coach Don Lever said of the game; "I didn't like the turnovers at the start." Luckily Marc Denis stopped all 14 shots in the first period, and rookie Ben Maxwell scored on the power play assisted by rookies Max Pacioretty and David Desharnais. The Dogs struggled through the first, but the second period started with left winger Greg Stewart knocking out defensemen Greg Amadio with one punch.
After this great fight, defenseman Chad Anderson got his second penalty of the game to put the Bulldogs down two men. "The penalty Killing did the job, killing the five-on-three helped us win the game." said Lever of the play. Because during that five-on-three on D'Agostini, they managed to score a shorthanded goal, and while they were announcing it, Max Pacioretty banged in a rebound to score his first goal as a professional hockey player.
The third period started with Chad Anderson getting his third penalty of the game, however it still didn't stop the Bulldogs, as David Desharnais scored the Bulldogs second shorthanded goal of the game on a great play by Ryan White. Then the Dogs kept on coming as Ryan Russell roofed one top self and Chad Anderson scored from the point to make the final score 6-0.
It was a game Habs fans are going to enjoy as Kyle Chipchura and his line of Greg Stewart and Ryan Russell were able to shut down the most offensive line in the league. Top prospect Pacioretty played his best game of the season, and goaltender Denis has a great attitude about his situation. The Bulldogs will play their next game at home on Friday night against the Lake Erie Monsters
