Wild sign Havlat

The Minnesota Wild have signed ring winger Martin Havlat. TSN is reporting that it is a six-year deal worth $30 million. Minnesota fans should be very excited about this deal as he should bring a lot to the team.

Havlat played in 81 contests with the Chicago Blackhawks last year where he recorded 29 goals, 48 assists and 30 penalty minutes during the regular season. Last season marked a career high for Havlat in points scored and games played. He added five goals and ten assists in the last season's playoffs.

The native of Mlada Boleslav, Czech Republic, has recorded 396 points in 470 NHL games over eight seasons with Ottawa and Chicago.

He seems very excited to go to Minnesota and should be a great fit for Minnesota after losing Gaborik – especially since he is coming off a career year last year and is not as injury-prone as Gaborik.

Havlat's Twitter status after being signed was "Excited to be in Minny where I was welcomed and appreciated by management. The real story about what happened in Chicago to come out." He also thanked all of the Chicago fans in a later post.
