Final Score: BU 3-BC 1

December 06, 2008 @ 6:20 PM ET

9:15 P.M. ET Final Score BU 3-BC 1

BC Goal: Matt Price (3) 6:01
Assist: Barry Almeida (5)
Assist: Cam Atkinson (3)

BU Goal: Brian Strait (2) 20:00

Analysis: Jack Parker took a timeout at 9:56 to settle his team down after giving up a goal at 6:01. Seemed to have work as they went back to their old ways of playing great defense. BC pulled John Muse with a little over a minute left and tried to get any last chance they had. Jerry York took a timeout at 19:25 to discuss the offensive zone face-off. BC got that last chance, but could not capitalize.

Attendance: 7,884 (sellout)

That's all from Conte Forum, goodnight from The Heights.

8:33 P.M. ET Second Intermission

BU Penalty Shot Goal: Chris Connolly (4) 10:50

Analysis: Simply put it, the Terriers outplayed the Eagles through the whole 20 minutes. BC might of gotten a couple of big hits, but BU dictated the play throughout the period. BU outshot BC 12-7 and have a 20-12 shot advantage through two.

The first penalty shot converted against BC since 2003 when former Hobey Baker winner Junior Lessard of Minnesota-Duluth attempted one against the Eagles.

Keys to the Third Period

BU: Don't lose ground. The Terriers have all the momentum, and can smell a big win on the road.

BC: The Eagles have to play with desperation for 20 minutes and try to get something towards Kieran Millan. If they get another power play opportunity then they will have to make the most of it.

7:44 P.M. First Intermission

BU Goal: Corey Trivino (1) 1:59
Assist: Matt Gilroy (9)
Assist: Chris Connolly (8)

Analysis: The Terriers committed three penalties in the period and BC committed none. The Eagles are 0-2 on the power play and have not scored with the man advantage since November 21 against Massachusetts when they went 2-for-8 on the PP. Since then, BC is 0-for-20.

Overall it's been a pretty even game, but it's Corey Trivino's first collegiate goal that gave the Terriers the 1-0 advantage.

Keys to the Second Period

BU: Keep the puck on the outside on the penalty kill. That is what they have done so far this series and they have done a nice job shutting down Brock Bradford and company with the man advantage.

BC: Find a way to spread the ice. The BU defense is clamping down on all cylinders and on top of that, they have not given Brock Bradford any looks.

Look for both teams to put up a few more scoring chances as the shots on goal are 8-5 in favor of the Terriers.

Be back for more exciting action from the Conte Forum

6:32 P.M. ET

I'm here in my usual press room spot at Conte Forum at BC and the press is already buzzing about this key game, the second of a two game series between the Boston College Eagles and the Boston University Terriers.

After the two tied last night 1-1, everyone is wondering who will take this key mid-season Hockey East game between the two fierce rivals.

Anyway without further ado, lets give you tonight's lines

Boston University

Line 1: Chris Higgins-Colin Wilson-Jason Lawrence
Line 2: John McCarthy-Nick Bonino-Brandon Yip
Line 3: Chris Connolly-Corey Trivino-Vinny Saponari
Line 4: Zach Cohen-Luke Popko-Joe Pereira

Defensive Pair 1: Brian Strait-Matt Gilroy
Defensive Pair 2: Colby Cohen-Kevin Shattenkirk
Defensive Pair 3: David Warsofsky-Eric Gryba

Starting Goaltender: Kieran Milan
Backups: Adam Kraus, Grant Rollheiser

Line 3 is in italics as one of the lines to watch in this one. They are all freshman and they fly up and down the ice. Conolly is the leading scorer of the three with 10 points on the year.

Boston College

Line 1: Brock Bradford-Brian Gibbons-Benn Ferriero
Line 2: Anthony Aiello-Ben Smith-Jimmy Hayes
Line 3: Barry Almeida-Matt Price-Cam Atkinson
Line 4: Kyle Kucharksi-Matt Lombardi-Andrew Orpik

Defensive Pair 1: Tim Kunes-Tim Filangieri
Defensive Pair 2: Nick Petrecki-Tommy Cross
Defensive Pair 3: Joe Whitney-Carl Sneep

Starting Goaltender: John Muse
Backups: Alex Kremer, Chris Venti

Line 4 for BC is one line I'm going to pay close attention to as all year, they have given their opponents fits. The line is a good defensive line, and between the three players, they have eight goals and 11 assists. Great contributions all around.

I'll be back after each period with intermission reports.
